Melville
Completed in 2017, the fifteen-volume Melville series is the only definitive and authoritative library of Melville’s body of work. Beginning in the 1960s, Melville scholars led by Harrison M. Hayford undertook close textual analyses of the Melville collection at Chicago’s Newberry Library, the only exhaustive collection of Melville writings the world. Most volumes in the series include cloth and paperback scholarly editions, which include the research teams’ rich apparatus and annotations, as well as retail editions that include only the primary text.
