Karla Holloway – ‘A Death in Harlem’ conversation
September 29, 2019 @ 2:00 pm
This debut novel by Duke professor, Karla Holloway, features Harlem’s first “colored” policeman and the conflict between Harlem’s elites and regular folks. It’s a historical (Harlem Renaissance) literary fiction with a mystery at its center. This is a ‘sequel’ to Nella Larsen’s 1929 novella Passing (with imaginative revisions). Will the question of whether the death in that book was indeed “death by misadventure” be solved?
Holloway will be in conversation with Hilda Pinnix-Ragland, Vice President of Corporate Public Affairs at Duke Energy, who works with the WakeEd partnership.
